FAQ-information

How does it work?

Watch this short walkthrough video, where Stefan explains the basics

Do I need an account to get plugins on SONISTO

Yes. This is how the system knows your SONISTO plugin library – also when you migrate to a new system.

How do I install plugins in SONISTO?

In order to install plugins in Sonisto, you need to download and install the Sonisto desktop app. Here you can handle all your plugin installations in the MY LIBRARY section.

There are two types of products in MY LIBRARY?

Yes – installations in both categories are quite easy and straight-forward:

Products on the SONISTO INSTALLERS list can be installed with either the INSTALL ALL button or by selecting the product on the list and then the INSTALL button on the right side.

Products on the VENDOR INSTALLERS list can be installed by selecting the product on the list and then following the instructions.

If there’s an INSTALL button on the right side, click it and run the installation process. See INSTALLATION INFO on the product’s library page for information regarding activation.

If there’s a download link, go to that and follow the instructions.

Do I need the SONISTO desktop app to install my plugins?

Yes.
But once you get the hang of it, it will be a huge time saver.
Promise.

How do I choose the right plugin formats?

We have done (most of) the hard work for you. When you install the SONISTO desktop app, you’ll be prompted to choose your DAW from a dropdown menu – and from that, SONISTO will know which plugin formats to install.
If you’re using more than one DAW on your computer, just add another.
If you want to customize your settings, you can simply select/unselect different plugin formats below the DAWs you have chosen.
You can always go back and change your settings in the SONISTO desktop app under “Settings” -> “DAW Settings”.
As of now, SONISTO doesn’t save the DAWs you have chosen, BUT the plugin formats are being saved.

It is only possible to choose location of VST2 folder?

That’s because the location of VST3, AU and AAX are fixed and can not be changed.

Do you support 32 bit plugins?

No.

How do I choose the location of my 64 bit VST2 folder?

If you are using VST2s, most DAWs will find your VST2 plugins in these standard locations.

Windows:
VST2 plugins: C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins

Mac:
Machintosh HD:/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ /VST2 .vst file extension)

Is SONISTO really free?

Yes. Sonisto is completely free and always will be, and we have a lot of awesome high quality plugins that are also completely free.

We also have plugins that cost money – and at some point we might implement some really cool extra features that may require a premium account.

Prices are not the same in $ vs €?

Prices may not be exactly the same, depending on sales taxes in different countries.

What do the colour markers next to the plugins in MY LIBRARY mean?

Green: Installed
Yellow: Update available. To update, go to MY LIBRARY and select the UPDATE button on the product or the UPDATE ALL button at the bottom of the product list.
Red: Not installed

Can I choose different locations for different sample libraries?

As of now it’s only possible to choose one single default location for all your Sonisto-owned sample libraries.

Do you support Linux?

No. Even though Sonisto is built in Linux, it’s for Mac and Windows users only. Sorry, Linux users…

I didn’t find an answer to my question. What’s next?

Subscription FAQ

What exactly is this subscription?

It is a new service that will help you keep track of ALL your plugins. You can add your entire plugin portfolio to SONISTO, where you can add username, password, serial key and download URL for each product. On top of that early adopters get lifetime licenses to some really cool plugins.

You say it’s a beta - what does that mean?

It means that it’s a useful product, but still in development. In other words – we’ll be adding more features and better usability to this service. We want this to be a service everybody in the music industry wants! Early subscribers are a HUGE help for us in order to get there.

Is my information safe? After all this is all my passwords, serial keys etc.

All the passwords, codes etc. you save in SONISTO are encrypted.

Does this affect my installations in any way?

No! We are aware that installing plugins is a complicated and time consuming process – and that is exactly what we’re trying to do something about. We are not changing any installation files with this service – we are simply creating a better overview and easier access to installations and updates.

I don’t like subscriptions - why should I use SONISTO?

As a basic platform SONISTO is free – and that is not going to change. And for all the products you buy in SONISTO (including the more than 60 freebies!) you can handle downloads, installations etc. in MY LIBRARY. With the subscription you’ll get an overview of all the products you didn’t buy in SONISTO.

Do I own the products I get with the subscription?

For now (and as an early bird perk) you get lifetime ownership of the products you get when you sign up for the subscription beta! Also in case you should decide to cancel your subscription! We may change this in the future.

What happens if I unsubscribe?

You can unsubscribe at any time. After your subscription period is over, you’ll no longer have access to MY SCANNED PRODUCTS in SONISTO. It is very important to note that this HAS NO EFFECT on your plugins or installations whatsoever. It is just the overview that will no longer be accessible. The plugins that you received as part of your subscription is yours for life and will remain in your MY LIBRARY.
